Wallpaper Tips & Tricks
First, the wallpaper we sell is custom-made for your wall. The wallpaper comes in numbered strips that you hang in order. This already saves a lot of math and waste compared to a 10-meter roll of wallpaper if you want to wallpaper normal walls.
We recommend sticking the strips as close together as possible while wallpapering, if necessary with a very small overlap. Because the wallpaper expands slightly during the mounting process, it can shrink on some walls if the wall has not been properly prepared. Be especially careful with freshly plastered walls, these have a suction that can cause the wallpaper to “shrink” because these walls completely soak up the glue. This is minimal, but can cause you to get gaps if you don't glue it together properly. If your wall has not yet been treated, make sure it has had a coat of primer and preferably a coat of paint as well.
Also, a tip for wallpaper with a dark color, such as dark blue, is to paint the wall in that color. If you have a white wall and stick it just slightly crooked, you will immediately see a white seam in between. By painting the wall a dark color, at least where the seams will be, you prevent seams from being clearly visible. It's not a “must,” but if you haven't wallpapered very often, this is a tip.
It is important to know that we work with two different types of wallpaper.
ProVlies wallpaper with an acrylic top layer and non woven backing
This wallpaper is smoother on the front than the textile/linen look wallpaper. It has a matte front. With this wallpaper, you spread the glue on the wall first, then glue the strips to the wall. Keep this order.
Make sure you always use glue for non-woven wallpaper. These can be different brands.
Example: Perfax Roll On for Nonwoven Wallpaper.
The wallpaper type is described in our product description, if it is missing, feel free to send us a message.
ProVinyl wallpaper with a textile look
This wallpaper has a textile/linen look. This wallpaper needs to be smeared with glue first, then you stick it on the wall. Exactly the opposite way as the non-woven wallpaper.
Also with this wallpaper pay attention that you purchase the right adhesive for vinyl wallpaper.
Example: Perfax ready and roll for paper and vinyl wallpaper.
Both wallpapers can be wiped off with a damp cloth. However, we do not recommend wallpaper in damp areas such as a bathroom. It can be done, but we dare not guarantee longevity. So this is at your own risk. However, a toilet room is fine, as long as there is no shower on bath regularly.
Do you have a room with lots of sloping walls, built-in closets and windows and don't know how to take your measurements? Then we recommend wallpaper on a roll if you think you will lose a lot of wallpaper. We don't sell these as standard, but we can supply them on request. The wallpaper will then not arrive made to measure, but then you order the required amount of m2. A roll is 53cm wide and 10 meters long and covers just under 5.3m2, depending on how much you are going to cut and trim.
To calculate how many rolls you need, we recommend the following step-by-step plan:
1. Jobs: divide the width of the wall by the width of the roll (53cm)
2. Divide the length of the roll by the pattern height (1000/53cm)
3. Divide the height of your wall by the length of the pattern (wall height/53cm)
4. Divide the result of step 2 by step 3
5. Divide step 1 by step 4: Is number of rolls needed
Always round this number up, otherwise you will come up short. If you are at 6.1 rolls, you should order 7. In this case we advise you to order to size and cut away what is in between (such as a window or door frame). This will still save you a lot of money and wallpaper.
Unless you would like to use the rest of the roll for something else, then of course you can just order 7 rolls.
Our patterns vary in height, so always send us a message for pattern sizes.
The price of a roll of wallpaper is € 225,- and only available on request.
